Student YouTuber Recognized by University of Iowa Social Media Team

Iowa City, IOWA — Nicole Tay began her YouTube channel in high school to show friends her experience on a family trip to Ghana. She had not considered making YouTube videos as a hobby after the trip, so she took a break from YouTube until her freshman year of college. Tay was bombarded with friends asking her about her experience as a student at the University of Iowa. Tay decided to use her YouTube channel to give friends a behind the scenes look at student life at Iowa.
Last year, Tay’s videos caught the eye of UI Social Media Director Michael Benning. Benning liked Tay’s editing style and passion, so he reached out to offer her a position with UI social media. Tay has since joined and has become a vital part of the social media team. She has continued making videos and cites her family around the world as what keeps her going.
